Payne Cemetery

This Payne Cemetery is located on #159 in the back of a home on private property.  The person who lives there was kind enough to let us transcribe and photograph the stones. 


Judge H. Payne, died June 13, 1836, aged 36 years, 4 months, and 27 days.

George W. Paine, son of Judge H. and Agatha (Gosney) Paine.  Died May 9, 1851.  Aged 2 years, 8 months, and 24 days.  George was born in Kentucky.

William Gosney, born April 9, 1788 in Ohio and died June 19, 1848 in Pendleton Co., KY.  William Gosney married "Polly" Elsbary (also spelled as Ellsbury and Ellsberry) in Clermont Co., OH on 30 May 1816.  William and Mary (Polly) had at least these children: John, Michael, Francis Marion, William, Mary Catherine and James.  Agatha Gosney and Enoch Gosney are also probably their children.  There may be others, research is ongoing.

Mary Elsbary Gosney, wife of William Gosney, born February 17, 1800 in Ohio and died October 28, 1870 in Pendleton Co., KY.

Mary Catherine (Gosney) Thomasson.  The other information is too worn to read.

Jane Hoskins Gosney was born 23 September 1816 in England.  She died on 22 June 1877 in Pendleton Co., KY., the wife of Enoch H. Gosney.
